CB Bank won "Excellence in Leadership in Asia" by Euromoney

CB Bank was awarded the "Excellence in Leadership in Asia 2020” accolade by Euromoney for its leadership in responding to COVID-19 across the Asia region. 

CB Bank won this prestigious award along with the well-known regional banks and global banks, for its proactive response to financial and health aspects of our customers, employees, and society at large. "COVID-19 is an unprecedented crisis for us all. However, we have taken swift actions and formulated proactive plans since the beginning of the year: we have implemented all the necessary preparation and procedures to protect our customers and employees, and to ensure that we continue to provide essential banking services. With the strong support from our Chairman U KhinMaung Aye and the Board of Directors as well as great team work across the bank, we have overcome this great challenge by keeping all stakeholders safe, running our business operations as normal and still maintaining the strong business growth. We are honored to receive this prestigious award as the first Myanmar bank to win the regional award for the Asia region. It inspires us to do more for our customers and for the communities that we serve,” said U Kyaw Lynn, Chief Executive Officer& Executive Vice Chairman of CB Bank.  

Without reducing the number of operating branches during the period when the movement of people was restricted in many areas in the country, CB Bank managed to provide regular financial services to its customers through implementing stringent health measures at its branches. It also dispatched a mini fleet of mobile vans across the country in the rural areas to provide cash services so that overcrowding at branches that exposes health risks, can be mitigated.  

Euromoney commented, “What CB Bank did right in the early days of Covid-19 was to recognize that the main pressure facing its customers was a shortage of cash. As CB Bank demonstrated during Covid-19, leadership doesn’t have to be about the grand gesture, often it means doing the simple stuff well.”  To help the borrowers who are facing economic impact of this this pandemic, CB Bank is offering flexible arrangements to enable the customers to defer their principal & interest repayments for up to 6 months.
